Bhopal, August 28: Depressed over being jobless for the last few months, a 56-year-old civil engineer and his wife allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison after slitting throats of their teenage son and daughter at their residence on the outskirts of Bhopal, police said on Saturday. “The tragic incident took place last night. Facing financial stress, the couple slit throats of their son (16) and daughter (14) before attempting suicide in Misrod. The man and his son died on the spot while his wife and daughter are admitted to a hospital," said Nirajnan Sharma, SHO, Misrod Police Station. The man, a jobless civil engineer, and his wife decided to commit suicide and slit throats of their offspring with a floor-tiles cutter machine while they were asleep. In a suicide note, they've mentioned financial stress, Sharma added.
