Monsoon in Odisha likely by June 12

Bhubaneswar, May 7: Monsoon may rea6 the Odisha by June 12. The state will get  normal monsoon rain this agriculture year, said the pre-monsoon forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department. According to the Extended Range study regarding weather, the current monsoon will reach Kerla in the beginning of June. Normal monsoon rain will start from the first of June here, while it will touch Odisha coast by the second week of June. More probably, Odisha will witness the monsoon rain regularly from June 12. Agro-based Weather Scientist Dr Surendranath Pasupalak said, the normal tenure of Monsoon is from June 10-12. This year the south-western monsoon may have its presence few days before the predicted date. However, Director General of IMD said, the first weather forecast on the incoming monsoon was issued on April 16, on studying ideal models on weather. However, the forecast to be public on May 15 will have more details and accurate data. On the other hand, the Director for the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu of Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University (SOA) said the prevailing dry weather with thunder and rain will be favourable for the monsoon to come in time.
