Mission Asia Book of Records: Berhampur ITI students carve Odisha map with solid wastes

Ganjam, Sept 1: With a mission ahead to haunt Asia Book of Records, students of Berhampur government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) have carved a three-dimensional Odisha map with solid wastes. The map which is said to be the biggest map of the country has been installed as an icon of the silk city at the engineering school complex. Among one of the innovations taken up by the techies of Berhampur ITI, a score of students utilized around 4 tons of solid wastes and prepared a 28x24’ Odisha map. The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) sponsored its cost worth 1.35 lakhs and established the demographic model at the proposed place. {"id":133766,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} The BMC Commissioner Baliram Bandor inaugurated the model map on the occasion of Local Self Governance day on Wednesday. While unveiling the map formally Bandor said, ITI Berhampur is always endeavoring to innovate something new. The map will inspire the denizens for solid waste management with low cost or no cost, which in turn check environmental pollution. Rajat Panigrahi, the Principal of the institute said, Berhampur ITI is a workshop to incubate something new for its resourceful and industrious scholars.
