Misappropriation of government fund: Head clerk, wife arrested by vigilance in Balasore

Balasore, Sept 13: Head Clerk of Basudevpur block, Prabhakar Pradhan who was suspended for misappropriation of government funds has been arrested by vigilance on Monday. His wife Nitu Pradhan, a relative identified as Ranjan Kumar Sahani have also been arrested in this connection. Besides, four teams of Vigilance are conducting multiple raids in Balasore and Bhadrak in order to account his disproportionate assets. Sources said, Pradhan had allegedly misappropriated around Rs 20.25 lakh from the Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) funds. He had transferred it to the accounts of his wife, brother in law and a few relatives. Basing on the allegation of irregularities, a 11-membered team of vigilance conducted simultaneous raids today at Pradhan’s Niliabagh residence in Balasore town, Tihidi Block office in Bhadrak, Basudevpur Block in Balasore and his father in law’s house located at Nachhipur in Mayurbhanj district.
