Sorada, Oct 23: In a tragic incident, a youth met watery grave after his feet slipped into the Huluhula Ganda of Rushikulya river near Bhagabanpur village under Sorada police limits in Ganjam district.
The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar Padhy. He was a doctor by profession and son of Bijaya Kumar Padhy of Gosaninuagaon locality of Berhampur city.
Sources said, Rakesh along with his three friends had gone to Huluhala Ganda for a picnic. When, Rakesh entered the river to take a bath but his feet slipped and he was swept by the current in the river. They immediately jumped into the river to save Rakesh but could not trace his whereabouts.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and launched a search for Rakesh. Later in the night, they fished out the medico’s body from the river.
He was rushed to a nearby community health center (CHC) where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
