Marijuana worth 1.25 crore seized in Odisha

Lamtaput, Nov 13: Ganja worth Rs 1.25 crore was seized by police from two vehicles in Koraput district last night, police said. Lamtaput police intercepted a speeding van during patrolling but the driver tried to flee from the spot hitting the police barricade. Police chased the van following which the driver fled into the jungle leaving the van on road taking the advantage of darkness. During search police found huge quantity of ganja stashed in the vehicle. The local market value of the seized contraband would be around Rs 1 crore, said police. The contraband was being smuggled to Chhattisgarh from the district, said police. On the other hand, Padua police seized 2.5 quintal ganja from a truck and arrested the driver. The local market value of the seized contraband would be around Rs 25 lakh, said police.
