Man dupes senior citizen of Rs 6 lakh by swapping ATM card

Khallikote, Oct 10: A senior citizen has allegedly been duped over Rs six lakh by an unidentified person who had helped him to withdraw money from ATM in  Ganjam district, police said on Saturday. A local of Hansapur village under Chhatrapur police limits had gone Badamadhapur to withdraw money from ATM on September 26. The elderly man asked for help to a man standing near him as he was struggling with the process to withdraw money from the ATM. During helping him to withdraw Rs 20,000, the accused remembered the victim’s password and swapped the card, police said. The accused managed to defraud over Rs six lakh from the senior citizen’s account during the next week. When the victim updated his bank passbook, he got to know about the ATM swapping and lodged a police complaint.
