Man detained on suspicion of having Maoist links turns out to be a labourer

Khurda: The man who was handed over to Begunia police by locals of Deuli area in Khurda district on suspicion of having Maoist links turned out to be a labourer. “His name is Suresh Panharia and he is a resident of Boden block of Nuapada district. He has no lniks with Maoists,” said Central Range IG Soumendra Priyadarshi. He visited Begunia police station today and verified the documents and also talked to the senior police officials. The top cop also talked to Suresh. A day after a suspected Maoist sympathiser was detained by police from Begunia market in Khurda district, a joint team of Odisha police and Special Operation Group (SOG) launched search operation in Gajamunsdia forest on Friday. On Thursday, the locals had caught Suresh suspicion having links with Maoists and handed over the suspect to the police. He was caught while purchasing huge amount of grocery.
