Man arrested for trying to run over cop during vehicle checking in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9: Maitri Vihar police has arrested one 45-year-old man for trying to run over a police near Sainik School Square during vehicle checking. 

Police today arrested the accused identified as Rashmi Ranjan Parida, a resident of Patia. The incident had taken place on July 26.

Police said a patrol team had tried to stop Parida who was driving his car recklessly. Parida initially slowed down his vehicle and later abused the cpos present on the spot. However, later he accelerated his vehicle with an intention to run over the cop. 

The cop had a narrow escape after he fell on the ground. The vehicle, however, crushed the challan device of the patrol team. 

A case in this connection was registered with the Maitri Vihar police. Police on Wednesday managed to nab Parida near Capital police station. Police have also seized the car of Parida.
