Cuttack, Nov 1: The Salipur JMFC court has granted two weeks' time to former minister and Mahanga MLA Pratap Jena in connection with a plea over his personal appearance in connection with a double murder case.
The next hearing of the case has been scheduled on November 18. Earlier in September, the court had ordered to continue the case against Pratap Jena and transferred the case to the Bhubaneswar court.
In one of its orders, the Court said, “After going through the statements of the complainant, witnesses, and other available materials on record, we found that a prima facie case punishable for the offenses under sections 302, 506, 120 B of the Indian Penal Code is made against the accused namely Pratap Kumar Jena.”
Worth mentioning here that BJP leader Kulamani Baral, the former block Chairperson of Mahanga, and his close associate Dibyasingha Baral were brutally killed on January 2, 2021, by miscreants.
Later, the prime accused in the case, Prafulla Biswal, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the Govindpur area in Tangi of Cuttack district.
