Anandapur, July 9: Maa Dhanai Sevasangh, a social organisation, on Friday went on strike in front of the Anandapur sub-divisional hospital over the shortage of doctors. With 50 per cent doctor posts lying vacant for a long time in Anandapur sub-divisional hospital, the health care services have affected adversely. The agitation will continue until the doctors are appointed at the hospital, the protesters said. A major chunk of tribal population belonging to the rural areas and bordering villages of the district face problems as healthcare infrastructure is not as robust as compared to other parts of the district. A large number of vacant posts of doctors like medicine and anaesthetic at the health centre have impacted medical services and the people of Jajpur, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj. In other words, many government hospitals are facing an acute shortage of doctors.
