Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: The Odisha State Transport Department is going to introduce ‘Location Tracking System’ in every vehicle to beef up women security.
The system will instantly trace the exact location of the vehicle in case a woman is in trouble.
Odisha Transport Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said the location tracking devices would be installed soon in every vehicle. This digital device will indicate exact location to the control room. So that the control room will inform police about the incident with all the details of vehicles, location even the seat number.
Women while travelling in public transport could take its advantage by just pressing a red button near their seats.
The project would cost almost Rs 15 crore. The Government of India has already sanctioned Rs 9 crore out of the Nirbhaya fund. The Odisha State Transport Department would bear the rest cost to make the project functional.
