Sundergarh, Aug 25: The locals have objected to the expansion plan of OCL's cement manufacturing project on Wednesday. Thousands of locals boycotted the public hearing that was scheduled to be held in the morning. Sources said a public hearing was scheduled to be conducted at Ramabahal village on Wednesday to take the consent of the people for OCL’s Ramabahal project. However, the locals protested the move of OCL and remained firm on not providing land for the project. Being informed, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and Sub-Collector rushed to the spot and tried to settle the matter amicably. Despite long discussions with the villagers, people disagreed to lend their lands to OCL, even they did not allow the officials to reach the public hearing venue. Following this, tension increased in the village. {"id":132172,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} To prevent untoward situations, at least 12 platoons of armed police and Rapid Action Forces have been deployed at the spot.
