Live pangolin rescued in Odisha’s Koraput, three held

Koraput, Aug 16: A team of Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday conducted raid with the help of Koraput Forest Division officials and Koraput district police on Nandapur- Bodigoan road under Semiliguada Police Station in Koraput district regarding possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals.
As a result of three wildlife criminals identified as Sada Disari (48), son of Singa Disari, Moses Khara, (47) son of Late Ghasiram Khara of of Pukalimaliguda and Moses Khara, (47) son of Late Ghasiram Khara of son of Landu Tadingi (31), son of Narsi Tadingi of Chindiri village of Koraput district were arrested.
During search one Live Pangolin, One Maruti Alto Car along with other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession.
The accused persons could not produce any authority in support of possession of such Live Pangolin, for which they have been apprehended and is being forwarded to the Court of JMFC, Semiliguda in Koraput district.
The live Pangolin has been handed over to DFO, Koraput Forest Division for safe custody and rehabilitation. Further investigations are on in this regard.
