Jeypore, Oct 20: The Kotpad Large Area Multipurpose Socirty (LAMPS) in Koraput district of Odisha has been included in the 'World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector', said a senior official.
Three LAMPS of Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Rayagada have also been included under the scheme, the official added.
According to the department of co-operation, Odisha has been included in the 'World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector'. Four LAMPS of undivided Koraput district have been selected under the scheme.
The project will be implemented at Kotpad LAMPS in Koraput, Korukonda LAMPS in Malkangiri, Jharigaon LAMPS in Nabarangpur, Sadar LAMPS in Rayagada on pilot basis.
The Ministry of Cooperation has rolled out it as a pilot project to revolutionise agricultural infrastructure and empower farmers. The plan focuses on creating godowns and other agricultural infrastructure at the level of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to strengthen food security, reduce wastage, and empower farmers by enabling them to realise better prices for their crops.
