Karbi Anglong Agreement signed in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah

New Delhi, Sept 4: Karbi Anglong Agreement has been signed in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today. Karbi Anglong Agreement will be written in golden words in history of Karbi region and Assam. Today, around 1000 cadres of more than 5 organizations have joined the mainstream, shunning arms. Central and Assam governments are fully committed to their rehabilitation, Home Minister Amit Shah said after the agreement. Assam government will spend around Rs 1000 crore for development of Karbi region in five years. It is the policy of Narendra Modi government that we fulfill all the promises made in an agreement during our tenure itself, Shah added. Be it Bodoland agreement, Bru agreement or NLFT agreement, Government has met more than 80% of the conditions. In Bodoland agreement, almost all the conditions have been met, Union Home Minister stated. I assure the representatives of the five organizations and Assam Chief Minister that we will fulfill all the conditions laid out in the agreement within the designated time frame, paving the way for long-lasting peace and development in Karbi Anglong region, Shah concluded. Around 1,000 militants will surrender under this agreement & lots of arms will be deposited. Peace will be restored. It is a very big achievement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said after signing Karbi Anglong Agreement in Delhi. We will work for the rehabilitation of 1000 militants who will be surrendering with over 300 sophisticated arms. They will be given reservation in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, for the first time, he added. 90-95% of our demands for development of Karbi Anglong will be fulfilled with this agreement. We hope that this agreement will lead us towards development & bring peace, said Pradip Terang, Karbi Longri North Cachar Hills Liberation Front after signing Karbi Anglong Agreement in Delhi.
