Jharkhandi elephants wreck havoc in Karanjia area

Bhubaneswar: A herd of elephants coming from a jungle of neighbouring Jharkhand wrecked havoc in Karanjia forest range area of Mayurbhanj district by damaging houses and paddy plants.
According to reports, a herd of 22 pachyderms entered the Kalikapur village last night and damaged houses. The elephants also ate up and destroyed paddy plants on acres of land.
Villagers are in a state of fear as the elephants are still moving in the nearby jungle.
On being informed, Karanjia forest officials have reached the village and are trying to drive away the jumbos into deep jungle.
