Jharkhand bound herd of elephant damages crops, walls in Mayurbhanj

Karanjia, July 10: A herd of Jharkhand bound elephants has created panic at Karanjia forest range in Mayurbhanj district late on Friday night. A herd of 18 elephants went on a rampage wreaking heavy damage to crops and houses at Rautalipat and Mahuliasuli villages under Karanjia forest range in Mayurbhanj district. Sources said the elephants entered villages. Tension prevailed in these villages as the pachyderms destroyed crops and damaged walls. The residents of the villages are living in a continuous state of fear due to elephant attacks. On being informed, the forest officials reached the spot and tried to send the elephant back to the forest.
