Jajpur, Jan 16: Locals of Nuasunguda in Jajpur district are going to boycott the panchayat poll demanding Revenue Village Status to their para(hamlet). Villagers in a press conference held on Sunday, have declared to non-co-operate the coming gram panchayat election. According to the village leaders, the Nuasunguada hamlet is closer to the Chandikhol square which fulfills every eligible criterion of a Revenue Village. However, the government has kept the proposal pending for years despite a number of memorandums filed with the district administration, in this connection. Meanwhile, on July 29, 2021, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved to accord revenue village status to at least 4000 hamlets. However, the Nuasunguda hamlet has been exempted from the welfare scheme, so far, said a resident of Nuasunguda. On the other hand, as a hamlet, Nuasunguda is away from the normal stream of development under different government schemes. Especially, the villagers are facing immense problems for having records of rights of their homesteads and cultivable lands.
