Srinagar, June 2: Panic prevailed among the locals of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian after three soldiers of Indian Army were injured in a blast that took place in the area on Thursday.
The police have informed that one of the three injured soldiers is in critical condition while the other two are currently stable.
According to officials, based on intelligence input the soldiers were enroute to Sedhau in a civil vehicle to lay a cordon and search in the general area Patitohalan. However, about one km from Sedhau, an explosion took place in the vehicle, injuring the soldiers travelling in it.
The soldiers were rushed to the District Hospital in Shopian for first aid and then were immediately shifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar.
The police are assuming the blast to be of an IED or a grenade or a battery malfunctioning in the vehicle. Details are being ascertained.
“A #blast took place inside a private hired vehicle at Sedow, #Shopian. 03 soldiers injured & shifted to Hospital. Nature & source (blast due to grenade or already planted IED inside vehicle or malfunctioning of battery) of blast being investigated & will be shared: IGP Kashmir,” Kashmir Zone police had tweeted early this morning.
Meanwhile, the affected area has been cordoned and all the likely escape routes sealed, a search to nab the terrorists is in progress.
