Cuttack, Jan 6: The State Transport Authority (STA) has decided to launch Intelligent Enforcement Management System (IEMS) between Rameswar to Chandikhol to detect road safety violations and auto generation of e-challan. The project aims to assist planning and monitoring of the vehicular movements across the designated highway and drive the enforcement management through sophisticated information and communication technology equipment and systems, and control system software. The project refers to the use of technology (computing, communications, and sensors) to optimize road accidents and save human lives due to the movement of vehicles over transport networks. This optimization covers areas as automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and addressing these problems requires the use of video surveillance technology and specialized software applications. Officials said that ANPR cameras will be installed and commissioned along Odisha border and under Rupsa, Golanthara and Sohela police stations respectively to detect vehicles for over speeding and other offences (based on class of motor vehicles) and slapping appropriate fines as per MV act & rules. “The system is envisaged to provide information services, collect information from different sources, process and analyze information related to road and highway network, vehicle information, enforcement monitoring and evaluation and recording of incidents or events. The information will be made available through application interface and dashboard,” said an official.
