Indian arithmetician Nikhil Srivastava achieves top US Prize solving century-old complex theory

New Delhi, Dec 16: Eminent Indian arithmetician Nikhil Srivastava has achieved one of the top US Prize, solving a century old complex mathematical theory. He has been jointly selected for the prestigious Ciprian Foias Prize hosted by American Mathematical Society (AMS). Nikhil, who is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley has been selected as a finalist in Operator Theory Round. It’s been a glorious decade of Indians making international headlines because Nikhil Srivastava solved a problem that arose in 1959, and had stayed unsolved since then.  Nikhil would accept the award on behalf of the people whose work contributed to the resolution of the 1959 Kadison-Singer problem which had stood unsolved since the last 62 year. Srivastava said, he will receive the award on a grand celebration on January 5,2022 along with his two American Colleagues.
