India successfully test-fires Agni-5 at Odisha’s Abdul Kalam island

wp:heading {"level":1} /wp:heading Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: In a view to boost the national defence strategy, India on Wednesday successfully test-fired Agni-5, from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast in Odisha.  Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO), Agni-5 is an Indian nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM).Agni-5 is the most advanced missile in the Agni series with new technologies incorporated in it in terms of navigation and guidance, warhead, and engine. The successful test of Agni-5 is in line with India’s stated policy to have “credible minimum deterrence” that underpins the commitment to ‘No First Use. Earlier in the month of August, India tested the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) off the coast of Odisha. The country also test-fired the Gen Y Akash Missile (Akash-NG) from Chandipur base at Balasore district in Odisha.
