Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted light to moderate rain, accompanied with lightning and thunder strikes in as many as 11 districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
As per IMD forecasts, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in one two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Ganjam districts.
After days of incessant rainfall across Odisha for couple of days, there was a respite from rain in several parts of the state for last three days. However, there were occasional light to moderate rainfall in some places. The rain related problems were comparatively less during last three days, sources said.
But with IMD predicting rain again, people in low-lying areas and flood zones are likely to be apprehensive of more pain and agony. The weatherman however, assured that the amount of rainfall will be far less than what it was last week.
