Illegal deduction: Farmers hold trading paddy with PACS in Sambalpur

Sambalpur, Dec 14: Sambalpur based farmers have held trading of paddy with PACS on Tuesday protesting deduction for humidity. Reacting over the Miller’s illegal deduction, farmers of Tabala, Talaba, Sasan,Bishaalkhinda and Kanakhinda have not sold their paddy to the concerned PACS. Sources said, hundreds of farmers were trading their paddy with the local PACS in the morning. While, the Millers wanted to deduct 5-10 kilogram of paddy per quintal as a compensate for the wetness in it. Following this, the farmers disagreed and informed the PDS officials in this connection. Acting on it, the officials visited the PACS to take stock of the matter. However, the millers claimed deduction of paddy while weighing despite the intervention of the PDS authorities. Reacting over it, the farmers stopped selling paddy to the PACS and racked huge quantity of paddy laden in trucks and tractor, before the trading points.
