Holy Trinity's Chariots to turn southwards today

Puri, July 17: The three chariots Nandighosa, Taladhwaja, and Darpadalana of the Holy Trinity will turn southwards; a practice called Dakshina Moda and parked at Nakachana Dwara (exit gate) of Gundicha Temple today. The chariots will park on the Saradhabali in front of Gundicha Temple, facing north since Rath Yatra, will turn towards Jagannath Temple in the south. This marks the beginning of the preparations for the Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of the sibling deities to the Srimandir after their annual sojourn. The servitors of the three chariots brought ‘Agnya Mala' the garland of consent from the deities to begin initiation of the chariots at around 12:30 after the Sakala Dhupa. The servitors then will turn the chariot of Goddess Subhadra towards the south which was followed by the chariots of Lord Balabhadra and Lord Jagannath, as per rituals.
