Nilgiri, Nov 25: A herd of wild elephants from Jharkhand have created havoc in Balasore district and damaged crops.
The elephant herd entered the village and caused damage to paddy crops. Last night, the raid of the elephants on the plantation has led to a loss of over several lakhs of rupees, leaving the growers in depression. The herd from Jharkhand, apparently, in search of food strayed into human settlement.
Locals residing in the nearby area are spending sleepless nights in fear of being attacked by the jumbos.
On the other hand, the forest department official are keeping watch on the movement of the wild animal.
