Harassment to Dutee Chand: Police detains web journalist

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: The Commissionerate Police on Friday detained the editor of a web channel, Sudhanshu Sekhar Rout, following harassment allegations levelled against the journalist by sprinter Dutee Chand. The Mahila Police questioned Rout after he was picked up from his office at Jharpara in Bhubaneswar. Police have also seized some documents, computer and hard disk from Rout’s office. Earlier on Wednesday, Dutee had lodged a complaint with Mahila police station against the journalist and a social activist. In her complaint, Dutee alleged that the editor of the web portal interviewed her family members when she was in Tokyo. In the interview, Dutee’s family members reportedly spoke about their personal issues with her. At the same time, a senior journalist of the portal demanded money from her for not airing the interview. Dutee had lodged the complaint in Mahila police station alleging that the matter had an adverse impact on her performance during the Tokyo Olympics-2020.
