Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: The state government has decided to issue vehicle documents including learner license (LL), driving license (DL) and registration certificate (RC) digitally from New Year. The Commerce and Transport department has issued a notification in this regard. The Transport department has decided to issue paper based RC, DL & other vehicle related documents through digitally signed certificate or through e-signature as specified under the provisions of Information Technology Act, 2000. To ensure better service delivery to the public and to eliminate the delay in receipt of the documents, the Department has decided to develop a portal for the public wherein PDF copy of the vehicle documents can be downloaded by the citizen at his/her convenience. “This system is aimed at reducing both time & cost for citizens and give the convenience of generating a copy of the document, instantaneously, without the need to visit the office of the RTO or waiting to receive the same by post,” read the notification.
