Bhubaneswar: The State Government will depute director level officers of various departments in cyclone-ravaged Gajapati district to oversee the relief and rehabilitation works. The Government also decided to send two additional NDRF and three ODRAF units to Gajapati to expedite restoration process.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi after the review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat said that the heads of the departments will visit the Gajapati to expedite the rescue and restoration operation in order to bring back normalcy in the district as early as possible.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to hillock collapse at Baraghara village of Gangabada gram panchayat under Raygarh block in Gajapati district rose to 15 after two more bodies were recovered on Saturday night.
It is suspected that three more person have remained under the debris, saidc. Earlier, 13 bodies were recovered from the mishap site.
It may be noted that members of five families were believed to have taken shelter in a cave of the hill for safety before the Cyclone Titli hit the coast, but the hillock, after being soaked in rainwater for many hours, collapsed over them.
