Godman fails to predict lucky lottery number; killed by follower

Lucknow, Dec 15: A man from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district has been arrested for allegedly killing a self-proclaimed godman, Ramdas Giri, for failing to predict a lucky lottery number for him. The accused, Mohammad Jishan, said that he lost over 5 lakh rupees due to the wrong prediction of the godman. According to sources, Giri, a resident Nagla Soti village of Bijnor was a self-proclaimed godman and many of his followers had won money over his predictions. Jishan, who too was a follower, had given Rs 51,000 and a cell phone to Giri and spent all the rest of his money to buy lottery tickets on the prediction of Giri. However, when Mohammad did not win the money, he attacked Giri and beat him to death. The police found the godman lying dead inside a Kali temple with several injuries on his head. The police, with the help of a surveillance team, nabbed Jishan and arrested him under section 302 of the IPC.
