Gajapati, May 16: In yet another crackdown against illegal smuggling of ganja, the police have seized a huge cache of ganja in Mohana locality of Gajapati district and arrested three peddlers in this connection today.

The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Pradeep Majhi (36), Ashok Rana (36), of Balisahi village under R.Udayagiri police limits, and Ashok Majhi (22) of Jurapeta village.

As per reports, police patrolling was underway Dengma-Kalameri road near Dengma village under Mohana police limits when a van travelling from the R.Udayagiri area to Berhampur was intercepted.

Following a thorough search, the police recovered illegal cannabis weighing over 12 quintals and seized it. Later, the police arrested the three persons present in the car as they could not produce satisfactory response regarding the possession of the banned substance.

The market value of the seized contraband has been estimated to be Rs 1.30 crore.
