Gajapati district admin beefs up development around bordering villages

Gajapati, Oct 2: Gajapati district administration has beefed up development in and around the villages along the Andhra-Odisha border. In order to address the public demands, the district admin has taken up a plethora of developmental activities, said Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sangram Sekhar Panda. {"id":139779,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Panda in a press meet said, Rs 9.65 crore has been sanctioned for a new road along the border. Its work has already been started. Rs 17 lakh has been sanctioned for pure drinking water to the homesteads of Gangabada nad Manikapatana village. Similarly, solar lighting has been installed at the cost of Rs 8 lakh. The construction of the cyclone shelter center is under progress. The proposal of Champapur-Gangabada road is underway at the cost of Rs 5.40 crore, said Panda. {"id":139780,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} At the same time, a number of livelihood projects have been taken up for the tribal people of the area under the Integrated Tribal Development Authority. As many as 30 families have been financially assisted for goat farming and 100 families have been funded for the hatchery. Similarly, three self help groups (SHGs) have been provided with technical and financial aid for colored fishery. On the other hand, the administration is all set to create a platform for trading agricultural and forest products, said Gajapati District Collector.
