Cuttack, Oct 8: Gajapati ACF Soumya Ranjan’s death mystery which sparked a hot glare in media for months, has taken a pivotal turn on Friday. The Crime Branch has concluded its investigation by fixing all responsibility of Soumya’s death on his wife Bidyabharati Panda. The Crime Branch has booked Bidyabharati under Section 304-A and 285 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), for her acute negligence to save her husband’s life after he was charred. However, Bidyabharati has been served a notice in this connection under 41-A of CrPC, as the punishment for this offence is imprisonment of less than seven years. Accordingly, Bidyabharati has been served notice to face the trial in the Court of law. At the same time, the Crime Branch has given a clean chit to Gajapati DFO, Sangram Keshari Behera and ACF’s cook Mannmath Kumbha in the case. According to a press note released by Crime Branch, the DFO and the Cook had no connivance with Bidyabharati to conspire for the ACF’s murder.
