Baripada, Feb 22: A four-year-old boy drowned in a pond late last night in Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased boy has been identified as Harekrishna, son of Chamara Birua, a native of Deokundi village under Jamada police limits.

Sources said, Harekrisha was playing near a pond while his mother was engaged at a kiln factory few kilometres away from the village.

Meanwhile, the boy slipped into the pond and drowned.

Family members found his body from the pond today. Police lodged an UD case and sent the body for post-mortem.
