Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: The Odisha Forest department on Tuesday ordered a high-level probe into the suspicious death of Jaring Forestor Sanjay Nayak (33), whose hanging body was recovered from his government residence last week.
Based on the allegations raised by the deceased Forester’s family members and the suicidal note recovered from the spot, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Debidatta Biswal ordered the probe following allegations of DFO (Research) Debendra Behera’s involvement in the case.
The PCCF responding to media persons said a Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF)-ranked officer has been assigned to investigate into the matter. The departmental investigation was ordered after the police revealed that the suicide note left by the Forester in his residence had mentioned DFO Debendra Behera’s name, who was allegedly extracting hefty amouts of bribe as cash & kinds.
The PCCF further said that swift action is being taken on the allegations levelled by the Forestor’s kins and police report. Stringent action will be taken against the guilty ones, after submission of the investigation report, compiled by the CCF.
