Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: The Odisha government on Saturday ruled out the possibility of a major flood in the Mahanadi river system as the water level is receding in the river. The flood threat diminished as the Mahanadi river water level dropped as Hirakud Dam authorities released less water today, said an official. The floodwater has also started receding in Brahmani and Subarnarekha rivers while there is no danger in Baitarani river. Of 44 mid-size reservoirs, the water level is below 50% in 13 and over 75% in 20 dams at present, Chief Engineer Dhiren Samal informed.
