Fit India cyclathon by Smart City from Ekamra Plaza to Sikharchandi on Sunday

Bhubaneswar, Dec 25:  The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in association with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will organise a clyclathon of 12.1 km, starting from Ekamra Plaza near Sishu Bhawan Square and ending at Sikharchandi Hills at Infocity near Patia on Sunday. The event under the Fit India initiative of the Ministry of Youth Services and Sports under the guidance of Smart City Mission of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is part of the thematic campaign ``Fitness ki dose, adha ghanta roz’’ (the dose of fitness should be for half an hour daily) to make the nation fit, healthy and youthful. All Smart Cities across India are organizing the FIT India activities and the Temple City of Bhubaneswar has been organizing Cyclathons regularly to keep the trend going among the youth and fitness enthusiasts. The registration process for Sunday’s Cyclathon will start around 6 am early in the morning and the flag off will happen at 7.30 am. The route of the Cyclathon will include Ekamra Plaza, Forest Park (Capital Hospital Square), AG Square, Raj Bhawan Square, Jayadev Vihar Square, Nalco Square, Patia and would culminate at Sikharchandi Hills. It can be mentioned here that the Fit India Movement is a movement to take the nation on a path of fitness and wellness. It provides a unique and exciting opportunity to work towards a healthier India. As part of the movement, individuals and organisations can undertake various efforts for their own health and well-being as well as for the health and well-being of fellow Indians. It was launched by the Prime Minister of India at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi on 29 August 2019 on the occasion of National Sports Day. The basic philosophy of Fit India Movement is “Fitness is zero percent investment with infinite returns”. According to health-care experts as the root cause of most diseases are lifestyle disorders and there are many diseases that can be overcome by making small changes in our lifestyle. Lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension are increasing in India. Hence, Fit India should be seen as a household movement, a daily routine. It can also be recalled here that during the COVID-19 pandemic physically fit individuals became less susceptible to the attack as fitness also ensures better immunity level in human body. The authorities of Smart City thus have urged the citizens to participate in the event, but ensuring COVID-19 protocol and guidelines and ensuring physically distancing norms.
