New Delhi, July 23: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in Parliament on Tuesday.
This budget marks the first of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term. The Monsoon session of Parliament, which began on Monday, will include 19 sittings and continue until August 12. During this session, the government is expected to announce tax relief measures under the new tax regime for taxpayers.
On Monday, the Lok Sabha's Question Hour saw significant opposition from leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, and Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav.
They directed sharp criticism at Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, questioning whether he would take responsibility and resign. In response, Pradhan dismissed the concerns, stating, “This is not a nationwide paper leak,” and emphasised that “The government has nothing to hide; we have disclosed all the facts.”
