Cuttack, Sept. 3: The Commissionerate Police Cuttack on Sunday busted a fake recruitment racket, and arrested six members of the gang, including a woman.
The accused were remanded to judicial custody on charges of duping job aspirants of Rs 53 lakh, said ADCP Cuttack Anil Mishra.
The police also seized a huge cache fake job-offer letters of gold jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh, one car, four motorcycles, , and six mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
One of the accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Nayak, a resident of the Ladamba area of Cuttack district.The identity of the others is yet to be ascertained.
Sources said, Sanjay and his aides were allegedly duping sizeable amounts from the job aspirants by portraying them as OTPC officers. However, they were providing no genuine jobs rather duping the youths with giving fake offer/ appointment letters.
Darghabazar police registered a case in this connection after receiving several complaints from the aspirants who were duped by the fake recruiters.
“The fake job providers cheated many youths in various districts of the state in the name of appointment in different offices. Further investigation is underway to nab the other aides involed in the network, said Additional DCP Anil Mishra.
