Bhubaneswar, Sep 7: Director of Health Services, Bijay Mohapatra on Tuesday stressed on the need for extensive surveillance on virus cases in schools. Mohapatra advised parents not to leave their children to school if they develop any symptoms or suspected infection. “Only through strict surveillance, we can reduce COVID-19 transmission in schools. Children having symptoms are advised not to come to schools,” said Mohapatra. He said that at present around 2 per cent of children infected with the Covid-19 have been admitted to ICU. However, no one is under ventilator support, he added. The chief of the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), CBK Mohanty advised parents to compulsorily inform the administration in case of development of any symptoms in their wards. If symptoms like cold, cough, fever develop in children, it is the responsibility of their parents to inform about the same to the administration and get their kids tested for Covid at the earliest, he said.
