Bhubaneswar, Aug 16: The Endowment Commissioner has asked the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lingaraj Temple Trust Board over construction of market complex on Plot no 118 offered to Badu Nijog near Gangua bridge under Nuagaon revenue village.
The Endowment Commissioner in the letter on Monday asked the CEO to inform the actions taken to stop the construction of shops by Badu Nijog.
Shree Lingaraj Temple has over two acres of land in the area given to Badu Nijog for service. The Badu Nijog started construction of a market complex on the land in 2019.
However, the temple management, Brahmana Nijog and Pujapanda Nojog opposed the construction work. During that time the Endowment Commissioner advised to share the profit from the land among temple administration and Badu Nijog. But, the temple management did not agree with the proposal following which the construction work was stopped.
After four years, the Badu Nijog has resumed the construction work. After being informed, the Commissioner has directed to stop the work.
Besides, the Commissioner has asked Dhauli police station IIC to keep a watch on illegal construction.
CEO of Lingaraj Temple Trust Board and Bhubaneswar Additional Collector Dilip Kumar Mahapatra said we have consulted legal adviser in this regard and action will be taken according to law.
