Eight cattle die in road accident in Odisha, villagers demand action

Salepur, May 31: People protested over death of eight cattle in road accident at Kandhaberini under Kanpur police limits on Monday in Salepur area of Cuttackdistrict. The locals demanded stringent action against the errant driver and urged the treatment of the injured cattle. Sources said, an unknown vehicle hit a herd of cattle as a result eight cattle died and more than four became critically injured. Acting on it, the Kandhaberini villagers blocked the Narasingpur-Salepur main road and demanded planned action for it. They also asked to treat the injured cattle immediately. Meanwhile, Kanpur police and executive magistrate reached the spot and pacified the mob and arranged for treatment of the injured animals, following which the road blockade was called off.
