Score of political leaders and oficials have owned several patches of lands in fraudulent manners in Bhubaneswar city and on its outskirts.
During the BJD government the Opposition BJP had raised the issue of massive irregularities in allotment of land, houses and flats by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), the Odisha State Housing Board and the General Administration Department.
Some land sharks have owned acres of land by encroaching natural nullahs, dried riverbeds, water bodies, pasturelands in fraudulent manners.
Land kissams have been changed overnight to favour land mafias in Odisha capital that has skyrocketed housing land price in the state capital.
Influential persons have used their political influences to own valuable lands in posh areas of the city at undervaluation.
