Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Amid political rumors of the early election of the Odisha Assembly, the state Congress is yet to finalize the president of the youth wing.
The party held an election for Odisha Youth Congress President and the result was announced on July 25. Five candidates had contested for the post while Ranjit Patra secured the first place with 50,628 votes, veteran Congress leader Bhakta Das’ son Sagar Das was in second place with 45,606 votes and Krushna Mohanty secured the third place with 32,852 votes.
The Indian Youth Congress will finalize the presidential candidate by conducting interviews with the three aspirants. The selection process was to be held within seven days after the announcement of the election result. However, the Indian Youth Congress is yet to conduct the interview after one month while the state Congress is making tall claims that it is ready to face an early assembly election.
The former state Youth Congress president Smrutiranjan Lenka has been appointed as general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and in charge of the Assam Youth Congress. Now he is working as president-in-charge of the Odisha Youth Congress.
