DRDO espionage case: One accused received money from Dubai

Cuttack, Sep 21: One of the five employees of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Balasore held on charges of sharing highly sensitive defence secrecy with unknown foreign agents has received 38,000 from an account in Dubai. This was informed by the additional director general of police (Crime Branch) Sanjeeb Panda. Crime Branch has taken over the probe from Balasore district police. Panda said that the accused were trapped by a woman through various social networking sites. “The woman was using a UK SIM and we are trying to trace the woman. We are also going through the bank transaction history of the accused to ascertain whether they also received money as well,” said Panda. He also said that the money was transferred to the bank account of the accused in April in two phases. “We are trying to identify the sender. We are also investigating whether the accused were benefited by some other means except money transactions,” he added.   Meanwhile a team of officials from the Indian Air Force in West Bengal has reached Odisha to interrogate the accused.
