Don't go for panic buying ahead ‘Asani’: Food and Civil Supplies Minister

Bhubaneswar, May 4: Odisha, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain urged the people of the state to stay away from panic buying in view of the possible cyclonic storm ‘Asani’. The minister took to social media and advised people not to buy and stock any essential items unnecessarily. Some traders may take advantage and it also causes artificial shortage in the market. However, stringent action will be taken against those resorting to any offence. “The state government is fully prepared to tackle the situation. The Food Supplies Department has kept a sharp watch on the market and black marketers, the minister said." All kinds of food items and other essentials are present in the market in surplus amount, he added.
