Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida had contacted the Dhenkanal SP to discuss the incident and instructed the police to take stringent action against the culprits.
Following this, the Dhenkanal SP stated that the trial for this high-profile case will be conducted in a fast-track court in Mahulapunji village.
Worth mentioning, The Dhenkanal Police arrested these four men identified as Babuli Nayak, Biranchi Moharana, Abinash Parida, and Jiban Parida from Mahulapunji village for the repeated gang-rape of the homeless woman under the Bhapur police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. The woman, who is now seven months pregnant, had been staying with her ailing father in an abandoned Anganwadi center. While the victim’s mother had died, her father, suffering from severe mental health issues, was unable to protect her from the assaults.
The four arrested suspects have been denied bail and are now in judicial custody.
