Bhubaneswar, May 15: Police DG Abhay, DGP today visited Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur district and reviewed Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) activity and COVID enforcement measures. In Koraput, DGP reviewed the current LWE scenario, COVID enforcement in the district and border sealing along Andhra Pradesh border. DGP also reviewed the border enforcement established at Sunki border along Andhra and Chandili border along Chattisgarh. Further, DGP visited Motu under Malkangiri district and reviewed LWE scenario, Anti-Maoist operations, anti-cannabis initiatives as well as the on-going COVID enforcement drive and implementation of lockdown and weekend shutdown in the district of Malkangiri. DGP urged District SP to intensify enforcement measures and ensure strict implementation of lockdown and weekend shutdown. Further, he called for strengthening the vigil on interstate movement by more stringent checks at border check posts. DGP also appealed the Maoist cadres to leave the path of violence and join the mainstream for peaceful development of the area. DGP later visited Nabarangpur district and reviewed COVID enforcement and other operational matters.
