Bhubaneswar, July 13: Odisha government has directed to deliver the Madhu Babu pension to poor and needy beneficiaries by 20th of every month in the state.

The State Social Security and Disability Empowerment Department emphasizes that District Collectors should personally ensure timely pension delivery by the 20th of every month.

Normally, the pension is given to the beneficiary’s bank account on the 15th of every month.

Alternatively, beneficiaries can collect the pension on Jan Seva Diwas at the Gram Panchayat or Block Office.

The letter highlights that although the pension is scheduled for delivery on the 15th, it often reaches beneficiaries only by the end of the month.

Some beneficiaries face difficulties reaching the Panchayat or Municipality office due to health issues.

According to the social security act, pension should be given to beneficiaries at their doorstep, emphasizing a mandatory provision.

The Madhu Babu Pension Yojana in Odisha aims to provide financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries, including old-aged individuals, widows, disabled persons, destitutes, and orphaned children affected by Covid.

The BJP-led government led by CM Mohan Charan Majhi, is said to be planning enhancement of the monthly pension amount to ₹3,000.
